Let us be the change agent in your success. That ONE DEGREE of difference between GOOD to GREAT.
After decades of success in some of the industry's best known brands, Miguel Miranda and Ed Doherty, founded One Degree to help others have similiar success. Our compass is based on our three main principles, which are the key to our success:
ENGAGE, EDUCATE and EMPOWERl
As partners in One Degree, we have a long tradition of success both for our clients and former employers. We believe this is due to a clear set of principles and corporate values that have allowed us to readily adapt to changes in the market without sacrificing the quality or integrity of our work. This has been our recipe for success.
One Degree is guided by these core principles:
Miguel co-founded One Degree after spending 20 years as a veteran of the hospitality industry having built and lead teams from small, family-owned restaurants all the way to the world's largest restaurant company, Darden Restaurants. There, as Managing Partner of The Capital Grille brand, he achieved record-breaking profitability and revenue. He demonstrated success in building high performing teams by using emotional intelligence-based leadership. He started One Degree because he wanted to share and teach the powerful human nature-based leadership and business lessons that helped him achieve his success.
Having spent the majority of his career in Charlotte, Philadelphia and New York City, Miguel now lives in Saint Petersburg, FL with his wife and their two children. When he is not pursuing his passion of helping people get to where they want to be, you can find Miguel spending time with his family, enjoying the wonderful Florida weather either at Disney or the beaches. He also spends his time serving at his church where focuses on the mens, marriage and mission ministries. He and his family travel the world working with others to help them better their quality of life.
Co-founder Ed Doherty is a highly regarded 40-year veteran of the hospitality industry. His experience as a chef, manager, partner, owner and COO gives him a unique perspective. In 2011, Ed partnered with former colleague Miguel Miranda to form One Degree. His passion is to help his clients build sustainable business growth by building inspired, connected, productive teams. He believes, as does the entire One Degree team, that quality of operations is tied to the quality of the work environment. “Common sense is rarely common practice". Our coaching process helps managers become leaders who inspire their teams to be engaged brand ambassadors”.
Ed lives in Haddon Township, New Jersey and enjoys traveling with his wife and four children. He spends the majority of his free time visiting the beautiful state of Maine.
